while people generally do not have road-sense, knowing that is more important...when you are approaching someone on the freeway at 100+ mph (like u were), I think it's safer to assume the driver you're approaching is a moron, and therefore definitely UNsafe to pass at a speed of 90/95 mph. Usually moron drivers get nervous when a car is approaching them at a high speed and tend to do something stupid (like he did). slow down to a safer speed, pass safely, and boost...
